The lodge is five minutes by boat from the Chobe National Park and approximately eight minutes by vehicle. You can book afternoon activities such as a boat cruise on the Chobe River or you can enjoy a safari into the Chobe National Park.
The Chobe River forms the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park, renowned for its diverse and abundant game viewing opportunities. This section of the park is best known for its dense concentration of wildlife including elephant and hippo populations, but the waters attract all manner of game including large herds of buffalo and the lions that prey on them. A visit to this area guarantees close encounters with an array of African wildlife. Once you arrive at camp after seeing many wonderful sights. Set up camp and relax with a refreshment until darkness falls and dinner is served under the night stars! After a delicious meal it is time for bed.
In the heart of Botswana’s Chobe National Park lies a dynamic wilderness, a sweeping expanse of savannah brooded over by several rocky outcrops which guard a relic marsh and the dry channel that was once its lifeline. This is Savute, where mysterious wet and dry cycles mould the landscape and dictate the nature of its wild inhabitants. Currently it is dry, and wild dogs hunt in the channel where crocodiles swam only twenty years ago.
The Gubatsa Hills shelter leopard and klipspringer and rock paintings of early man’s wildlife sightings. During the arid winter months game viewing concentrates on Savute’s resident bull elephants, antelope and lion prides, and black-backed jackal, bat-eared foxes, tsessebe, and kudu, abound.
The summer rains bring a feast for lion, hyena and cheetah as thousands of migrating zebra and wildebeest assemble in a chaotic pattern on the marsh. Cape buffalo herds arrive and migrant birds swell Savute’s 300 resident species, thrilling bird-watchers with their spectacular antics.

Day 10
Today you will move through to the Deception Valley based in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. This is a bit of a longer transfer which gives you a great opportunity to see Botswana! An idea of the daily activities in the area includes a game drive visiting the Deception Pan and numerous waterholes in this semi arid reserve. After close to 4 hours exploring the area you will return to camp and refresh with a warm bucket shower and a tasty lunch before relaxing for the afternoon. After high tea you will head off on an afternoon Game drive until sunset.
Adventurous travellers seeking a truly remote African safari will be thrilled to discover that such a thing still exists. As the second largest game reserve in the world and one of the least visited, nothing can prepare you for the sheer wonder of exploring this vast reserve with its wild, untouched beauty. The landscape is dominated by sand veldt, acacias, and Kalahari appleleaf, interspersed with grasslands, and dotted with occasional sand dunes, pans and fossil river valleys. While the reserve is home to an impressive variety of wildlife, there is one animal that is rather obviously absent, the human being. It is this lack of human traffic, combined with the park’s lack of infrastructure, that makes for a challenging and marvelously authentic African experience. Visitors need to be entirely self-sufficient but those willing to make the effort will be richly rewarded.
